Townsville’s First Plague Year – 1900

The existence of the plague hospital erected at Townsville in 1900 has been largely forgotten by the local community. This paper attempts to describe the outbreak itself, and name for the first time all 38 plague sufferers that year, as well as examine the exact nature of the hospital and what happened to it.
